Internationally renowned hymn writer, composer and social justice leader John Bell - of Scotland's The Iona Community - will lead all of us in a "Big Sing!" beginning at 7 pm in the New York Avenue Presbyterian Church sanctuary.

In this program Bell will take us on a journey in song. As he explains, what we sing shapes what we believe. For example, Jesus, "gentle meek and mild," is a hangover from Victorian hymns, but there are so many songs from around the world that explore the full meaning of Jesus' life for us today.

We'll have refreshments beginning at 6:30 pm, and free parking available at Green City Parking on H Street between 12th and 13th Streets, NW.

Feel free to invite friends. As John Bell says, a Big Sing is for everybody, especially those who were told in their early days that they "couldn't carry a tune."

Please join us for what promises to be an energizing and inspiring evening as Bell leads everyone in songs familiar and unfamiliar from around the world that will help us locate what he calls the "missing Jesus."
