About the Director...
R. Bruce Douglass R. Bruce Douglass is a Presbyterian layman who serves as a ruling elder at the Lewinsville Presbyterian Church in McLean, Virginia. A member of the faculty of the Department of Government of Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., he teaches political and social theory. A graduate of Yale (M.Div.) and Duke Universities (M.A./Ph.D.), he has chaired the Department of Government and also served as Dean of the Faculty of Georgetown College. His publications include several edited volumes, such as One Nation under God? (Rowman & Littlefield 2000), Catholicism and Liberalism (Cambridge 1994), and Liberalism and the Good (Routledge 1990). His essays have appeared in a variety of scholarly journals as well as such popular publications as The Responsive Community, The Christian Century, Commonweal, Christianity and Crisis, and the New Oxford Review.

About the Program Coordinator...
Mary J. Hill is a Christian Educator in the Presbyterian Church U.S.A., having served two churches in Tennessee and two in National Capital Presbytery over eighteen years. She received her undergraduate degree from Rhodes College (formerly Southwestern at Memphis), and graduated with an M.A. from the Presbyterian School of Christian Education (now Union Presbyterian Seminary). She has the full range of experience in planning and teaching with children, youth, especially confirmation, and adults.

About the Facilitator for Young Adult Programs...
Matthew D. Taylor is a Ruling Elder at the Georgetown Presbyterian Church in Washington, D.C. He is also a PhD candidate at Georgetown University in Theology and Religious Studies with a focus on Muslim and Christian theology. A graduate of the University of California-Irvine (B.A. in English and Religious Studies) and Fuller Theological Seminary (M.A. in Theology), Matthew also worked for 6 years with InterVarsity Christian Fellowship as a university campus minister. His scholarship focuses on comparative religion and interreligious understanding.

About the Program Associate...
Mary K. Miano serves as the webmaster for the Institute’s website. She works closely with the Communications Committee to help implement their vision for the website and assists in developing the communication strategy of the Institute. Mary also works full time at a trade association in DC as a project manager. Mary received her B.A. in Journalism and Public Relations from Salisbury University.
